  • George Shaw is a rapidly rising composer who has written for the concert stage as well as Hollywood and independent films. He is a versatile composer with the skill for crafting rich orchestral tapestries as well as producing cutting edge sounds to match the visual images in movies.
  • Shaw was commissioned to write a fanfare for “Amazing Brass,” which went on to win the 2002 Dallas Wind Symphony Fanfare Contest. As a musician, he is a multi-instrumentalist that plays clarinet, piano, guitar, percussion and a variety of exotic woodwind instruments from around the world. He recently formed a world music ensemble in which he performs his original compositions and arrangements with other talented multi-instrumentalists.
  • Recent films include J-OK’EL, for which his music won a Gold Medal for Artistic Excellence at the 2007 Park City Film Music Festival, which claims to be “the first film festival in the world singularly recognizing the contributions of composers and their music to film.” PURITY also won a Gold Medal for Best Impact of Music at the 2006 festival, in addition to 2 Gold Medals Shaw garnered for Best Impact of Music in animation and a Gold Medal for Outstanding Achievement in Film Music Composition for Independent Film.
  • In addition to composing, Shaw has orchestrated on a number of films, including GHOST RIDER (starring Nicolas Cage), DARWIN AWARDS (starring Winona Ryder, Joseph Fiennes), KISS, KISS, BANG, BANG (starring Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jr.), ROBOTECH: THE SHADOW CHRONICLES, and CHASING GHOSTS (starring Michael Madsen). Shaw’s string arrangements and orchestrations can also be heard on Nural’s debut album “The Weight of the World” from Hopeless Records, and singer/songwriter Kari Kimmel’s first solo album “A Life in the Day.”
  • Shaw studied composition and film scoring at the University of Southern California Thornton School of Music, and participated in the 2004 ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop and the 9th Annual BMI Conducting Workshop.
